Battle of Bunker Hill

Date: June 17, 1775. The Battle of Bunker Hill was the second battle in the Revolutionary War between the British and the Continental Army. The British won this battle, but in their try for winning they lost 1000 soldiers. The victory came after the British assaulted for the third time at Bunker Hill.
The battle was as following: At midnight of June 16 the Continental Army guided by General Israel Putnam and Colonel William Prescott went with 1500 men to the Charlestown peninsula. The Continental Army built ditches in this area and got ready for battle. There they waited for the British troops. The British troops were commanded by General William Howe. 2600 soldiers were in the British lines while 1400 were fighting for the Continental Army. Three assaults were done by the British in order to achieve their objective. The first assault was made near a fence done by the Continental Army. This was a huge fail for the British due that because the assault was done at close fire, it provoked several losses from the British. The second assault was done but the same results happened. At last, the British in the third assault were successful in terms of battle; but only because the Continental men were tired and had lost all fire discipline and eventually this lead to the British army winning the battle; although they loss more than they won. The losses were considerably high for the British.
