The Boston Tea Party
The Boston Tea Party was not actually a party where you drink and eat. It was the name given to the rebellious act made by the Patriots in response to the taxes levied on the tea. In May 1773 Parliament passed an Act called Tea Act were the Parliament permitted the East India Company to sell tea directly to the colonists, reducing its cost and making it cheaper than other teas like the smuggled Holland tea. The story is the following: It occurred in Massachusetts, more specifically on the Port of Boston at evening, on December 16, 1773. A group of rebels that were against the taxes on tea decided to go inside three British ships that were carrying a great shipment of tea. This men¸ who called themselves the “Sons of Liberty” but weren’t the original ones leaded by Samuel Adams, dressed themselves up as Mohawks Indians and went on the ships. The name of the British ships that had the tea shipment was: the Dartmouth, the Beaver, the Eleanor. Between the three ships was a load of forty-five tons of tea!!! After the “Sons of Liberty” threw the tea on the sea, they escaped but the dagger had already wounded the Empire. Therefore the empire strike back, as the Star Wars saga, and it took serious actions to regain control over this rebels of the colonies. As a measure to regain control, Parliament passed the Coercive Acts that afterwards had a serious effect between the colonies and the Empire.
